Important Information Regarding UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage Plans (Effective January 1, 2025)

What's Changing?

UnitedHealthcare periodically reviews its Medicare Advantage plan offerings and service areas. Based on this review, there will be reductions in some service areas and a discontinuation of some plans.

How Will I Be Affected?

Affected members will receive notification by mail on October 2, 2024. This notice will inform you if your current plan will no longer be offered in your county for the following year.
The notification will detail your options: Enroll in another UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plan (availability may be limited in 2025).
Learn about other Medicare Advantage plans offered by different companies.
Consider Medicare Supplement insurance coverage and/or Medicare Part D coverage.
A special election period will be available for members to enroll in a new Medicare Advantage plan for 2025 benefit coverage. This enrollment window runs from October 15, 2024, to December 31, 2024.
Members who don't choose a new plan by December 31st will automatically return to Original Medicare on January 1, 2025. An additional special election period will be available until February 28, 2025, to enroll in another Medicare Advantage option.

Will this affect my doctor? No, these changes do not impact the Participation Agreements with healthcare professionals in the UnitedHealthcare network.
What happens to my Part D coverage if my plan is discontinued? If your current plan included prescription drug coverage, you will also lose Part D benefits in 2025. Deciding on future Part D coverage depends on your new health plan selection.
