Horizon NJ Health Expands Behavioral Health Coverage Starting January 2025
Effective January 1, 2025, Horizon NJ Health will expand its Medicaid coverage to include certain behavioral health services. These services were previously only available through New Jersey’s NJ FamilyCare Fee-for-Service program.
What Providers Need to Know
- Providers already participating with Horizon NJ Health do not need to take any action. They will automatically be included in the expanded coverage.
- Providers not currently enrolled in the Horizon NJ Health network but interested in joining can apply through Horizon’s Join Our Networks portal.
Why This Matters
The inclusion of behavioral health services into Horizon NJ Health’s Medicaid plan represents a significant step toward integrating mental health care into the broader healthcare framework. This change aims to:
- Enhance access to behavioral health services for Medicaid members.
- Provide continuity of care by consolidating services within a single network.
- Simplify processes for participating providers.
This initiative highlights the ongoing efforts to improve healthcare access and address the growing demand for mental health services within Medicaid programs. Providers not yet enrolled in Horizon NJ Health may consider joining the network to take advantage of this integration and support the evolving needs of Medicaid patients.
