Here is a reminder for you and your staff who interact with Healthfirst members in specific plans (listed below) about the importance of Cultural Competency Training:
New York State Department of Health regulations mandate annual completion and certification of Cultural Competency Training. This training equips healthcare providers with the necessary skills to deliver culturally sensitive care to a diverse patient population.

Healthfirst Personal Wellness Plan
Senior Health Partners Managed Long-Term Care (MLTC) Medicaid Plan
Child Health Plus
Healthfirst CompleteCare (HMO D-SNP) - Medicaid Advantage Plus
Medicaid Managed Care
Training Options:
Most providers and staff can fulfill this requirement by completing the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services' (HHS) e-learning program, Education - Think Cultural Health
Behavioral Health Providers:
New York State's previously approved Cultural Competency training remains an option for behavioral health providers.
Completing and Verifying Your Training:
All training must be completed annually by December 31.
If you've completed training within the past year with another managed care plan, simply submit the Healthfirst attestation form confirming completion.
Upon request, be prepared to provide a copy of your training certificate.
