Bridging the Gap: Cultural Competency Training for Healthier Communities

Serving Diverse Populations: A Reminder for Healthfirst Providers

Here is a reminder for you and your staff who interact with Healthfirst members in specific plans (listed below) about the importance of Cultural Competency Training:

New York State Department of Health regulations mandate annual completion and certification of Cultural Competency Training. This training equips healthcare providers with the necessary skills to deliver culturally sensitive care to a diverse patient population.

Benefits for Your Practice:

Improved Patient Care: Understanding cultural backgrounds fosters stronger patient-provider relationships, leading to better communication and adherence to treatment plans.

Reduced Health Disparities: Culturally competent care helps bridge the gap and ensures everyone has access to equitable healthcare outcomes.
