Anthem: Provider Enrollment Welcome Letters Now Live on Availity Essentials

As of September 1, 2026, Anthem has rolled out new functionality within its Enrollment, Registration and Network Management application on Availity Essentials, changing how professional care providers receive enrollment correspondence.

Professional providers are now receiving their enrollment welcome letters digitally through the Communication Center section of the provider enrollment dashboard, rather than by mail. Letters are downloadable as a PDF directly from the platform.

This change applies to Commercial, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid plan types.

Who is excluded: Ancillary, facility, institutional, and long-term services and supports (LTSS) providers are not affected by this change and continue receiving enrollment welcome letters through the existing process.

Why Anthem made this change:

• Convenience — less time spent sorting through mailed documents 
• Faster access — no waiting on mail delivery 
• 24/7 availability — correspondence accessible digitally at any time 
• Environmental benefit — reduced paper, ink, and postage use 

What providers need to have in place:

• Organizations already registered on Availity Essentials were automatically granted access to the provider enrollment application; no separate signup was needed for the application itself. 
• Organizations not yet registered on Availity Essentials should have their designated Availity administrator create an account at Availity.com (Get Started > Create Account). 
• Individual staff members must be granted the provider enrollment role by their organization's Availity administrator before they can access the application. Staff can locate their administrator via My Account Dashboard > My Account > Organization(s) > Administrator Information. 

How to access the Communication Center:

• Log in to Availity.com 
• Select your market 
• Go to Payer Spaces from the top menu 
• Select the brand corresponding to your market 
• Accept the User Agreement (renews annually)
• On the Applications tab, select Communication Center directly, or Enrollment, Registration and Network Management, then Communication Center under "My Communication" 
• Enter your TIN and NPI to retrieve letters 

Why this matters for credentialing teams: 

Practices should confirm now, if they haven't already, that Availity Essentials access and the provider enrollment role are properly set up. Welcome letters may contain important information about enrollment and effective dates, so credentialing staff should verify that their organization's Availity administrator is designated, relevant team members have the correct role assigned, and the Communication Center is being monitored for new correspondence.
